I posted this as a reply in another thread, but I think it deserves it's own posting.
IMO, the country music fans are here, its the recording industry causin' the problem!
Big name labels may soon pass, with single song internet downloads and you tube, who pays $18 for a CD with 2 decent songs?
Another bail out?
BTW, where's the longivity in country music? One STAR at a time! Where would we be if it had happened to Tammy, George, Merle, Loretta, Willie, Charlie,...
Again, this is only MY opinion! What's yours?

Tommy,
Talk about longevity, I read where Jim Reeves just made the charts again in England. What does that say about tallent? He's been gone for 45 years, and still having hits.
The great Jimmy Day used to play for Jim. Two of the best! _________________ You can observe a lot just by looking |

Bill, really?? wow that is unheard of. But in Jim's case it sure is believable. His songs were arrangements way ahead of its time, with strings, horns etc pre-1964. Totally new in country music. I wonder where that man would have been today if he still were alive?
You know the name of the song on the charts? _________________ BenRom Pedal Steel Guitars

Jim's back in the UK Top Ten
It's wonderful to see Jim Reeves back in the BBC Radio 1 Official Chart Show Top 40 Albums.
'The Very Best of Jim Reeves' has jumped straight in at No.9 (17th May 2009).
Sony/BMG should acknowledge that there is a huge demand for Jim's music and release some of the other great material from his catalogue? I some how doubt if they will.
All of this came about after a travel service company ran a tv ad in the UK with Jim's "Welcome To My World" as background music. Evidently the response was such that Sony/BMG decided to release a new album. _________________ You can observe a lot just by looking |

Old fools like me, who want something tangible for their money. (I liken it to buying a house vs. renting one. Rent, and you get to enjoy the house, you just never really "own" it.) I look at it this way, the prices didn't go down at all when they went "internet" with audio files. Fifteen songs on a CD = $15, and 15 downloads also = $15.
Besides, I can legally sell CD's I no longer want at the flea market for 3 bucks apeice. How much can you get for the MP3's you no longer want? ![Razz](images/smiles/icon_razz.gif) |
