ZB S-11 (not a typo) Student Model from about 1971, Phoenix-era. Has the famous ZB triple coil pickup and three-way switch. Construction is like older Fenders: Metal frame completely surrounds wood guitar body. Finish is red lacquer and not the later plastic shell. Very nice cosmetic condition. (OHSC is functional but fairly beat-up.) Keyhead is part of the wood body. Tuners appear to be recent Kluson copies. (No stamp on metal housing; not enough oxidation to be 38 years old.) Someone's applied some gold pen accents to the ZB Custom decal. Serial number suggests it's a prototype: "ZB DS-11." It's not the one Zane Beck is pictured with on his LP demonstrating the ZB student model. (Six tuners are on the other side of the keyhead with Zane's.) Mechanical construction (rods, legs, pedal bar, pedals and KLs) apart from the frame, is very similar to that of the ZB professional models. This is an early student model, as I hypothesize on page 79 of the huge ZB thread under "Pedal Steels."

3+4. E-lower lever is the antiquated RKL. (Sorry, I didn't know about the LKR setup until very recently.) I will probably remove the 2" lift kit unless the buyer specifically asks me to leave it in place.

Price is $950 (firm) + shipping + PayPal--considerably less than I paid for it and does not reflect the costs of Jim Palenscar's expert adjustments and ministrations. (Special consideration for local SoCal in-person transaction.)

Ben,
What tuning is it set up for? Is it normal E9th with an extra low E on #11? I might be interested and I'm local here in LA also.

Hi Ben
I will be very interested in this when/if
my 37 B7 sells.
Are the mechanics stable on it?
Are you at all interested in possibly
trading?
I was looking to trade it for a combination
of a reso and a lap or??? I'm open to listen
as I'm a beginner and like to try a lot of different
things.
cheers
Steve

Bump....maybe I'll let this go rather than the D-11 listed separately...
