The Starlight Drifters, fronted and led by Chris Casello, is playing here in Wausau Wi, tonight, and man I cant wait!
Great western swing, rockabilly, and hillbilly rock. And Chris is a super tele/lapsteel switchback-player!
The upright slap bass player is also great fun to watch, and the drummer is a master of tasty licks and a great backbeat.
Only get to see 'em once a year tho...

They're a great band. I played on a bill with him at a car show in CT two weeks ago & really dug the group. You should definitely check 'em out. Chris Casello is a really nice guy & a talented singer, guitar player & steel player. He switched back & forth between guitar & a triple-neck Fender steel while singing. If I remember right, he doesn't use fingerpicks on the steel & 6-string like Jr. Brown, but he uses a regular guitar pick on the 6 string & steel. |

Thanks for the link! Looks like we get 'em in at Lincoln's Denver in October. Will definitely check out any band with a T-8 Fender steel (and he plays standing up!). |
