Years ago there was an outfit that sold RADIO-kits where you build them and then drag the entire world into your very own living room.
Isn't there a company somewhere that sells steel g'tars that same way? Like building blocks?
Can't recall the name. |

| Ray, years ago there was a company called "Market-Rite" selling what was a basically stripped-down Maverick in kit form. I had started playing on a Maverick (Sho Bud) myself up in Kalamazoo, MI and the local music store would order those kits and have me assemble them for customers. They were functional entry-level instruments, the kits went together well. I would think that would be a workable venture today. |

Ah, thinking about those lead to a Google search, Wikipedia says Market-Rite guitars were an earlier product of the Cougar company and ceased production sometime before Freeman's death. I didn't know that.

That sounds like a cool deal that probably could fly today.
As far as no pedal kits, the Dynalap is the only one I know of.
I've done a few drilled, routed, ready to finish bodys for a few people, but not a kit per say.

| What would a good price point be for a kit with a wood body? I realize it would depend on the pickup, tuners etc. but what would a good range be say within $25.00 - OR would you offer the same body with different option of tuners and pickups - DB |

| From other discussions on this board, it looks like a lot of people regard the Rondo SX-6 as a kit. Replace the pickup, bridge, tuners, strings, pots and electronics, and you have a nice guitar with your choice of pickup, bridge, tuners, strings, pots and electronics. For $115 you get an attractive mahogany body and a fretboard, with a nice case. Everything else on the guitar as delivered could be regarded as the "instruction manual", just showing where to mount the parts that you really want. |

Tom,
Your designs and aesthetics are really beautiful and your workmanship is impeccable. I would consider buying a finished body without hardware if you ever consider doing something like that. The hardware is the easy part for me and I think many others as well. |

What Kekoa said is correct - I bought two Rondo's for that purpose. The only parts I kept were the body, fretboard and case... everything else got pitched and replaced with high quality components. For under $200 I ended up with an excellent guitar with a form fitted case and stand.
I'm in the process of doing the same thing with the second Rondo I bought but this one will have a different electronics. The beauty is that the stand will work for both guitars.
The downside is that your stuck with the SX body shape and 22.5 scale legnth but that's fine with me since I was only after a couple of good players.
