Anybody know what happened to the Grand Ole Poopery ? (You know, the Rock and Roll Show cleverly disguised as Country Music.) It hasn't been on C.M.T. for quite awhile.

You two could be found to be anti 'something' about steel guitar when you're talking like that in a public forum. Isn't that some kinda crime?

I tho't I understood that the OPRY had been removed from the airwaves by the new owners............? True or False? I couldn't find it on SNOPES.

New York and L.A. have been trying to steal it for years and turn into a rock show. "In concert with CMT". Frightening.

That old lady is dead, all she needs is covering up,and let her rest in peace. When I'm in the mood for some rock and roll I just pull out some Iron Maiden,Judas Priest,Blue Oyster Cult,Zeppelin, etc,These guys KNEW how to play RR, It's really pathetic what some of these [country ???] artist are doing with their half-assed attempt at rock and calling it country. Where is Angus Young,Jeff Beck,Joe Walsh, etc,When you need them ? DYK?BC.

I quit watching the Opry a long time ago. They might have moved it to a more appropriate network, like MTV.

I'm a member of another discussion forum that has a 'beating a dead horse' emoticon for threads like these. The SGF should seriously think about getting one.

Thank you Charles. For that expression of support, I might just do my Heavy Metal tribute show when I come down there. I'm really getting tired of these whiney steel and fiddle things, and I'm leaning toward music that's got some blood and guts to it. I'll bring my Les Paul and my 12 ft. high Marshal setup.

I listened to the Opry Saturday night. However after 9:00 WSM does a great moments show with Eddy Stubbs until after midnight. That's when the Midnite Jamboree comes on. Funny thing, Saturday while I listened to the Midnite Jamboree, They had a guy and he sure din't sound country to me.ET must've been rolling over in his grave. Because the songs he played sad to say did not sound country to me.

Rick, where you been,Les Pauls and Marshall stacks have been standard equipment on the opry for a while now,Was gonna work up something we could jam on when you come down,Thought I would work up MJ'S THRILLER,Broke my A and B pedals on my MSA,trying to moon walk on them, spilled a Pepsi in my Peavey 500,that 15 inch speaker caught on fire and burned the hair off my kitty[THOMAS KATT].Had to send my guitar to Bobbe,My amp to Peavey, and had to take THOMAS KATT to get a hair transplant, taught me a lesson, about as heavy as I'm getting from now on is Don Williams greatest hits, DYK?BC.

Don Williams ROCKS but too much energy in his music for me. I like something laid back like Judy Collins singing Amazing Grace. Smile
