There was some discussion recently about JD's hands, especially the right one. Her eyou can study them in minute detail. A sight to behold

Back in the 60's I used to go visit Jay Dee at his house and he would show me some licks. I've seen him put his palm on the strings and do speed picking with just his index and middle finger on the top strings, and they moved independent of each other. I've never seen anyone else do this. The man is just, IMO, fantastic. I believe I can truly say, it just don't get any better.

That turn around that Jay Dee did is about my all time favorite when they performed this at Austin City Limits. His BC pedal ending was a great departure from the recording and still gives me chills.
