Hey everybody...I just wanted to get the word out that I'll doing an all JAZZ STEEL GUITAR concert in Solana Beach CA. for the "SUMMER CONCERTS AT THE COVE" series on Thursday, AUG. 13th, 6:00– 8:00 p.m. at Fletcher Cove Park, 140 South Sierra Ave, Solana Beach.

I'll be playing with my friends, guitarist Tyler Hardwick, upright bass player Thomas Yearsley (of "The Paladins" fame), and drummer Austin Sorich. Well be playing songs by Wayne Shorter, John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins, Duke Ellington, Django, and many other jazz classics.

Since I'm already nervous, y'all might as well all c'mon down anyway. Oh Well Smile

Dang, I'll be in Carlsbad the week before, taking my boy to Legoland. I really wish I could come. Got any recommendations for the 3rd, 4th or 5th?

I'm just hoping that the kids keep the super soakers away from the amps Jim.

As far as "knockin' em' dead" goes, that's my Friday C&W gig. So far we're up to 2 heart attacks and a suicide! Shocked

I knew you were a "killer" steel player, Rick, but, man, I had no idea! Maybe you should go a little easier on the tritone subs for awhile, y'know, kinda lay low? Whoa!

Honest Jim, not too many tri-tone subs on that gig. But trust me, if I ever hear a sound like a balloon popping over by the big screen during "City of New Orleans" again, I'm outta there.

Crying or Very sad Whoa!

I made a couple of Jazz Steel mix tapes w/ Emmons, Chalker, Rugg, Doug, Murph, Franklin, Weldon,Tommy White, etc. and I put your "Goodbye Pork Pie Hat" on there. Truly outstanding vocal & steel.

Rick, Norma Jean and I shall try to make it to Solona Beach for your gig if at all possible. We have to jiggle some schedules around. I'll keep my fingers crossed. The best, Al

Wow Al! I'm honored that you would consider making the drive! It would wonderful, albeit nerve racking, to see you out in the audience. If you do come, you might wanna bring beach chairs or a blanket etc. It's in a cute little grassy park, right next to a beautiful beach. Very pretty sunsets!!! If you do decide to come down, you might want to beat the traffic and go hang out with our pal Jim Palenscar at his shop in the afternoon. Hope to see you there! Very Happy

BTW....I hated that I couldn't make it to Spazio! Oh Well

Rick, I'm so bummed. I just went to put this date on my calendar and noticed I already have a gig booked that night. What drag! Of all the Thursday's I could have a gig! Would love to see or hear it though if anyone makes any type of recording.

Keep me posted on any future dates for this type of thing, you should definitely do a jazz date again.....soon.

For all those not familiar with Rick, he is a monster, you don't want to miss him play here, or at his regular Friday night gig in Oceanside.

Slim
