- any rough value range on Grand Console?
- pics look pretty good
- Craigs Add:
Gibson Console Grande double neck 8 string steel guitar. From my research, this instrument is probably from the late 40s to early 50s. The SN# on the bottom is 706. This was my first steel guitar over 15 years ago when my Dad bought it from Scotty Dewitt for me. I played it for about a year before I gave it up and returned it to my Father. During that time it played great with sweet tones from the single pickups. I just received this instrument back into my position after my fathers passing. The instrument is in good condition for it’s age. All the hardware is original from what I can tell. The pickups are in excellent shape. The volume pots seem to be in good shape with minor scratching. One gold knob needs to be replaced. All of the tuning knobs are in excellent condition. The nut on the first neck by the tuning pots has worked loose over the years and will need to be reset. The case is in poor condition but the interior is in relatively good shape for possible restoration. I will provide additional photos as needed but the instrument will be sold as is. _________________ 'Frenchy' LeBlanc...

The Vintage Guitar Price Guide book value for a Grand Console D8 in good condition is around $1,400. Even knocking off a few hundred for the minor problems and poor condition of the case, the Craig's list price is a steal. |

That's under half of what I paid for mine two years ago. Better snatch it up! |

My local store has a 7 string/8 string Gibson console for $1500. I'm not sure of the year. Looks mighty nice, but it seems pricy to me. Maybe not? |

There are quite a few different models when it comes to Console Grandes.
The early ones had 3 legs and the later ones came equipped with 4 legs.
Then there was the "Consolette".
I never did care much for that model.
Rick Alexander played a beautiful early model triple neck.
I think they were few and far between. |
