Great stuff. My dad was a regular at the Bostonia Ballroom in the 50s. I've heard about some great shows.

I believe I saw Don Hogsted a member of the Smokey band pictured with Smokey/ Don also played a fine fiddle in San Diego for many years until his death/ I myself had spend many nights working in Dons band in the 1970 and early 80!s

Brings back memories. I was stationed in San Diego (home port) from '55 to '61,,,spent a lot of time at BB. I was into Atkins style guitar at the time and Smokey had a guy in the band named Tommy Turman, a monster on that style,,,he also worked at Smokey's store. (typical guitar player,,,put the hit on MY squeeze while I was out at sea,,,LOL. Neither of them were worth killing so I let it slide,,LOL)

Very nice! That was about my beginning learning time. We were lucky enough to come down the El Cajon on a vacation (justly earned), to meet some dear friends (Skip & Phillis Andrews) from Liveremore, whom took us on a tour of the state from Los Angeles to Sacramento in July of 1989! Jay Y.
