Just recently, I learned that this song had been recorded by Michael Jackson among the dozens of other singers and that the music was written by Charlie Chaplin in 1936, and the words came along years later.
What I was thinking was that this would make a beautiful steel guitar instrumental, either pedal or nonpedal. I can hear a mandolin break in the middle, maybe trading notes with a Dobro, then back to steel.
Does anybody know of a steel recording of "Smile"? I couldn't find one. Maybe one of you fine pickers could do this one sometime. |

Great song! I've done it many times myself (it lays great on C6th pedal). I can't recall a steel instrumental version right now, but that's probably because I can't get the Time Jumpers version out of my head. Man, that's some music to die for. |

Gary,
I recorded this tune last summer on my most recent album called "Coming Back". It is a great tune and I did it on C6th. I also have it tabbed out and a rhythm track from the CD also. We had some excellent musicians on the album, as I am old fashioned and still doing all my albums in a studio with real musicians.
