I was prompted to download Internet Explorer 8 some time ago and have had nothing but trouble since.
Browsing stops,screen freezes and will not connect are the most common faults.
I tried to download Explorer 7 but I get the message that I have a more recent version.
Am I stuck with it?
Billy

You can try to uninstall IE 8, through Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > Internet Explorer 8.0. After you uninstall it and reboot the version you previously had will return.

Hi Billy,If the uninstall doesn't work go to a date before your download and restore the system.

Billy;
Please describe all security programs and firewalls in use on this PC. Especially, tell me if you have Spybot S&D or SpywareBlaster installed and are applying full Immunization. Also, please perform a full system scan for viruses and spyware and report any malware findings.

It will also help to know your OS version, Service Pack level, processor speed and amount of installed RAM.

You should also try to run the Secunia Personal Software Inspector (PSI), which can be downloaded from www.secunia.com. Install and update the Inspector, then have it perform a full scan of your hard disks. It will report any missing updates, or out-dated exploitable software on your PC (whether active or inactive). Links are provided to update any vulnerable versions of installed software.

Note, that the downloadable PSI is different than the online inspector. First, it doesn't require Java to scan; second, it's faster; third it inspects more programs; and fourth, it's more thorough.

Wiz,
Thanks for the help.
I have a Toshiba Laptop. Windows XP. 1gig ram.I have Sophos anti virus installed.I run a scan regularly with Sophos and no problems detected.
I do not have any spyware or firewalls.
I am unsure about service pack?
I installed Reg Cure which is supposed to clean everything up and make I EX 8 run trouble free. but no difference.
I have tried to send this message a couple of times but when I click to send,the Explorer stops working.
Let's hope this one gets thru'
Best regards
Billy
P.S. Everything worked ok before IX 8

If IE 8 continues to give you trouble you can install Firefox and import your Favorites and cookies and be done with the problems.

Billy;
Go to Adobe.com, click on the Get Flash button and follow the instructions. Restart your browser after Flash is installed, to get it to take.

Note, you must operate as an Administrator to install Flash into your browser. In lieu of that, you must right-click on the browser link and Run As Administrator to install Flash from a standard useraccount.
