After a few hours of playing my Session 400 limited (1994)gradually starts humming more and more. Pulling out the jack from the amp's input to check if the steel could be the problem, results in even more noise and squealing. The problem is easily solved by putting the amp OFF and then immediately back ON: noise gone, playing as usual, until...
What could cause the problem here? Solutions?

Setup is this:
Carter S-10 with alumitone pick-up, to Hilton ME-262 B, straight to Session 400 input.

I wonder if it's the reverb connection to the chassis? Next time it happens wiggle the reverb wires and connector and see if that makes a difference (or just turn the reverb to zero).

Turning it off and on could even be a flakey internal connection and just the slight movement of the amp temporarily fixes it.

I had one of that vintage Session 400's but it was only used as a "backup amp" and I eventually traded it for a MosValve 500 power amp.

You msy have a loose connection on the PC board on one of the power filter caps. That can work for a while after a turn on and then go bad again. Makes a relly loud hum!

When it hums plug a cord into the power amp input. If the hum stays it is in the power amp and likely a filter cap. If it goes away you have an issue in the preamp
