I have a very nice four year old goldtone for sale. It sounds great and there is no problem with it, just need to sale so i can buy another musical toy i want more.if there is enough interest i will get some photos, but i don't have any right at this moment. The asking price is $525.00 firm-will ship almost anywhere-nothing out of U.S.
Comes with a hardshell case(original)will throw in the Jerry Douglas Steel ($80.00) for another $50.00.
I really hate to get rid of it, but need money for another "love" right now.

Thanks, Robert

Robert,
I'm not interested.....but...Beard/Goldtone has a few different models out, so you will have to specify which one it is as there is a decent difference in price between the models.

I think it is the GT PBS, but when i get home from work i will check and make sure. Janet Davis has a music site and this one is what it looks like, i know it is mohagony and not maple. Thanks for replying and for the help!!( it may be the one without the signature)

These are good.
I have the cheapest laminate mahogany version and i've had a few strokes of "gotta upgrade" and i've tried some good ones, and expensive!, but i have happily gone back to my trusted old "cheapo".

Robert; did you ever determine which model this is, PBS, PBSD, or PBSM? Thanks

It took me a while to figure out the difference between the PBS and the PBSM. Ebony fingerboard... maybe this is a dumb question but who cares on a squareneck what the fingerboard is made out of?

it took me a long while to figure out what the other differnce was...then it occured to me that the differnce is in the word "solid". The PBSM is SOLID mahogany. That would mean that the PBS is by default a laminate

I know its not just goldtone that does this, but why do guitar makers get to get away with saying the guiitar is mahongany..when its not really mahogany unless they say 'solid' mahogany? why cant they be upfront about what the guitar is made out of?

aftre all that griping and complaining, I will now say I own the PBS and its sounds great to me...and until just now, I didnt realize it was a laminate Laughing

I'm curious, what is a "Jerry Douglas Steel?"

Jerry mostly uses bars made by Ron Tipton, and I have never heard of one which has something do do with his name.

If he is referring to the Beard Jerry Douglas signature model, which is a ballpark $5200 resonator guitar, as opposed to a bar/steel, with a price of $50, then I would like to order as many as Paul Beard and crew can make! Wink

That's a Goldtone PBS, the mahogany laminate version. If it was set up at the Beard factory with a Beard cone there will be a label glued to the back stating that, inside the left sound hole.

There is a sticker inside the left sound hole and it says" PBS " and the serial # is 2505769

this is a great sounding dobro and the only reason i am getting rid of it is because i can not get another instrument until i sell something that is worth the money i need.
i could sell my Derby double 10 but na, i love the steel too much to get shed of it yet.

anyway, someone want this?
and by the way, the Jerry Douglas Steel i was referring too is the bar that i bought that was advertised as the Jerry Douglas steel bar. Whether Jerry endorses it or not, i do not know. It cost me $80.00--don't tell my wife.... Embarassed

Might be a Scheerhorn bar - I think they retail for $80.

I'm about 99% sure that no bar carries an endorsement from Jerry.

My understanding is that the sticker indicates it was set up by Beard. The parts, including the cone, are the same either way.

I bet Paul Beard will be surprised that his shop is now a factory!
