Gonna be in the Windy City for 2 nights this Tuesday and Wednesday, June 30-July 1st. Got steel? If not, got jazz? Just like my wife, you can tell me where to go... Wink

Get in the night before and pick
up on Chris Foremans B3 Trio.
His weekly gig is Tuesday
evening at the Green Mill.
Since you're onto Jimmy Bruno,
you'd like Bobby Broom, I'm sure.

Joel Patterson and the Western Elstons play on Wednesday nights in Chicago. I am not sure if they will be playing on the 1st however. I will check it out.

My good friend Brian Wilke will be playing with the Hoyle Brothers at a mexican restaurant called Ayala's ( 623 W. North Ave in Villa Park )starting at 8:30. They play classic C&W and originals in the same vein. Check out they're webstie at (hoylebrothers.com). Brian said to check out a place called Andy's or the Green Mill for Jazz. You could also check with the "Chicago Reader", a website that has a music section in it. If you catch Brian, make sure to go up an talk to him. He is a great musician and a wonderful human being with a cool sense of humor.

Thanks guys. I'll probably just see if any of those suggestions is close to the hotel where I'm staying (Marriott Courtyard on East Ontario St.) and go there. If anyone has any other ideas, let me know.
Many thanks,
Jim

Jim,

I have never been disappointed at Andy's Jazz. The bands start about 5 usually and continue on in 3 hour sets. (The food stinks though).

It's walking distance from your hotel and directly across the street from the other Courtyard.

I arrived in Philly late tonight myself and drive up to Allentown in the AM. Maybe we can visit some other time.

Thanks, guys. My flight into Chicago last night was delayed almost 3 hours due to weather so I missed getting out for the B3 set. But tonight I walked over to Andy's Jazz and really enjoyed a set by the Mike Smith Quartet. Great alto sax player and the whole rhythm section cooked. Thanks for the tip, y'all.
Back home tomorrow, at last.
Cheerz,
JC
