Does anybody have this (or any) solo tabbed out for a lively version of "There Stands the Glass"? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qn_nMSJNn2s (at 2:16 - 2:35) Thanks _________________ '73 Sho~Bud Pro II, '71 Emmons D-10, '75 Sho~Bud Maverick, Guyatone D-8, Session 500, Nashville 112, Sennheiser e609 |

Joe Wright has a really, really, equally swingin' instrumental of There Stands The Glass on one of his CDs. |

This version (Loretta) has some mighty beautiful pedal steel. Anyone know who the steeler was on this? Could that be John Hughey? |

The "Loretta" version has Hal Rugg on steel. She wanted the same intro as she used in her road show but appearantly couldn't explain it, so he had to call Bob Hempker from the studio at 1:00 a.m. to ask what he had played. (It's the famous "Slowly" lick for anyone who doesn't recognize it.) Just thought you might enjoy that little piece of trivia. |

Jake Hooker does a killer version of this song on his Live - Set Two album. Dickey Overby plays some mighty fine steel on it. Bobby Flores and Reggie Ruiffer on twin fiddles. If I ever heard this song done better, I can't remember when.
Jake's Set One and Set Two albums are a gold mine of great traditional country songs. _________________ Johnny Thomasson |

Too much drums on the George Straight version. Way way too loud, bang, bang. I agree with Johnny. Listen to Jake Hooker's live cut. Much more tasteful, in my opinion. |

The Jake Hooker version is really good....but it's also the way Johnny Bush did it 30-35 years ago...however only a studio version. |

Anything Jake Hooker and the Outsiders do is real good. Catch them live if you can. Currently Rick Price on steel. Also Miss leslie and the Juke Jointers with Rick Davis on steel. Jody. |
