Haven't seen any post concerning the NTSGA in months. Has it been disbanded or what has happened to it?

Well, now that you bring it up, I sent my membership fee in back in February and have never heard a word from them. I've not received a membership card, email, or any type of acknowledgment. I checked my account today and my check has NOT been run through the bank either.
Maybe they are having a problem of some sort. I guess I need to give Jan Jones a call.
Let us know if you hear anything.

Cheers!

I didn't hear anything for a while. Then I got an email from the treasurer telling me he had a stroke (I think) and he was trying to catch up. I finally received my new card. So you might want to go to the web site and send them an email and ask about it.

I just received my membership card last week from Will Sullivan. I know they were running way behind on paperwork and that it took quite a while for my annual membership check to get cashed. I think they're getting caught up now.

I lost my interest in NTSGA after Nick Reed got fired, he was the one that called me on the phone years ago and asked if I would be interested in joining and I did...I didn`t agree with decision to get him fired so I cancelled my membership. Today I have no clue what is going on with NTSGA.

Update

I spoke with Jan Jones and Will Sullivan today. Jan's on vacation and Will had a stroke. He is recovering nicely. He and an assistant were working on the membership list today when I caught up with him. He assured me things were fine, and he would get caught up with NTSGA business soon.
I guess we'll just have to give him a little more time. I was really glad to hear the stroke was very mild.

Hope this helps,
Benton

Where did all this “getting fired” talk come from? You don't get fired from the n.t.s.g.a.! That's rediculas! I was at the Annual Election Meeting when, after being President from the beginning for several good years, Nick announced to everyone present that his regular job was taking up so much of his time, that he chose not to seek another term as President of the Association! I hardly consider that as getting fired! Besides that, Nick Reed is still around and he attended our June Super Jam as he usually does! The Nashville Steel Guitar Association is alive and well and you're invited to come join us in our fellowship at both our monthly-meetings and our Quarterly Super Jams. Just check-out the Calander of Events on the N.T.S.G.A. Website!

Damir...when we got the word that you had 'lost your respect' for the club we called a special meeting to decide what to do, and the decision was unanimous to continue on without you.

Damir,

I have been with NTSGA since day one, in fact when Nick and David formed the club I was the very first member to join up and have watched it grow in to what might well be the largest group of its kind in the world.

I think it is very cool to drive a few miles to a meeting and rub shoulders with HOF inductees, guest players from all over the country, and so many steel guitar greats that are members.

There was no such firing as you heard of. Trust me on this, I was at the meeting that John Bechtel posted about, it went exactly as he said.

Nick is a great guy, he and David Spires did the steel guitar community a great service by forming this club, we all owe them a huge debt of gratitude IMOHO!

I have been a slacker as of late about attending meetings, jams, etc., due to health reasons, but I am still a dues paying member and am proud to be a part of the NTSGA!

I would also like to mention, not one single meeting has gone by without our President Jan Jones calling me to remind me of meetings. He has done a wonderful job, we are lucky to have him!

I hope you change your mind about the club, and hope to see you at a meeting sometime in the future.

I feel you are missing out by not being a member it is a great organization.

Best

OK, here goes again! _ _ I had a disagreement with one of the n.t.s.g.a. members (Officer) and I stayed away from all meetings and Super Jams for almost one full year! Until I finally realized that the only loser was me!

John,

I almost bailed once because of another members bull$h!t, the guy pissed me off royally! Jan Jones talked me out of dropping out. Turned out that 90% of the members thought the guy was a tool also.

I am glad you and I have not let these type of morons spoil it for us, hopefully Damir will come back also.

Happy sliding Dude
