I was so excited to see they finally released L.A. Turnaround, the album Bert Jansch recorded in 1974, heavily featuring Red Rhodes on steel, I went straight ahead and downloaded it from iTunes. The music doesn't disappoint but I just found out the download doesn't include this:

Quote:
The new CD of L.A. Turnaround also includes an amazingly atmospheric and previously unseen 13 minute film, made during the recordings of the album at Tony Stratton Smith's Sussex mansion and featuring Bert, Mike Nesmith, Red Rhodes and others recording and performing four of the songs as well as relaxing and playing pool.

Anybody seen this footage? I don't want to buy the album again, especially if it's ten minutes of "relaxing and playing pool", but it would be very cool to see Red and Bert jamming.

I got the CD this weekend and it is WELL WORTH IT. About 15 minutes of footage of Bert, Mike Nesmith and Red Rhodes recording, practicing, eating, playing pool, etc. Red is playing a beautiful double-neck ZB Custom which I had never seen him with before (that I can recall)....he had a much different single-neck that he was touring with just a couple of years prior to this (1974) that had various stickers on it and was not "branded".

It might also be of interest that Red Rhodes played on a record by the pub rock band Chilli Willy and the Red Hot Peppers. This group included the late Snakefinger on lap steel and Martin Stone, guitar. He played on a few tracks and Michael Nesmith should have been the producer. Interesting story.
