I've been making some changes lately to my website and email, in preparation of my leaving AOL and Bigstep.com.

I had noted Austin website maven Bill Groll ( www.austin78704.com ) do a new website for me that is much simpler to navigate, and has a shopping cart for easier commerce with the Herbster ( ) All the content is the same as the last site, plus more stuff coming.

http://www.herbsteinermusic.com

You can also get there by going to

http://www.herbsteiner.com

The email for me is now retrobilly@austin.rr.com , which can be accessed by the email link above.

Herb,
I notice that you don't have your "Fessy" on your sight anymore. Did you sell it?

No, Erv. Still have both Fessies. The 'Fess Up page will be appearing shortly, along with some more Murph on the Joaquin Tribute page.

Also planned is some sample sound clips from my albums and courses, but that of course involves... (gasp)... work.

I want to put in a word for Herb's C6th material. If you are serious about learning the C6th neck, you reaaly need to order Herb's CDs and tab. It will go a loooooong way in getting you acquainted with this neck.

I'm still getting emails from AOL which means guys are logging on to my website URL at herbsteinermusic.bigstep.com. That URL, and the website attached to it, will be going bye-bye at the end of June.

Everyone please update the URL to remove any vestige of Bigstep.com.

Big drag, but that's the URL that Google has for my first listing. I'm gonna have to deal with that at some time, but for now, the Forum will have to be my... uh... forum.

Hi Herb. To get Google to list your new site, you should do a couple of things:

1) If you haven't done so already, go to http://www.google.com/addurl.html and submit the info for your new URL. There are methods for removing your old URL from Google's system, but since your new URL may not be added to Google's database for 4-6 weeks, removing your old one now will leave people unable to find either site through Google in the meantime. For info on the removal options, go here: http://www.google.com/remove.html#exclude_website

2) Go to Google and enter your old bigstep URL into the search window. A results page will come up with a link to that URL as well as a list of options. Select "Find web pages that link to herbsteinermusic.bigstep.com," and then contact the Webmaster at each of those sites to request that they update to your new URL. Google's rankings are based on how many sites are linked to your site, and the respective Google ranks of each of those sites.

Sorry if I'm repeating stuff you already knew.

Hope that helps,
Doug
