This post started out in the wrong listing.

Anyone have any experience with the new Alesis SR-18 drum machine? This newer version of the SR-16 allows you to add/record a bass line to your drum patterns.

Anyone have experience with the new Zoom RT-223? It's a lot like the Alesis SR-18 but about $80 cheaper. It also allows for adding a bass line.

Thanks for any input.

I have an SR-18 and have been using it in my studio on sessions. The SR-18 even has a 3/4 program that was not in the SR-16.

But, there are some traditional country music applications that I have to go back to the SR-16.

I haven't got into doing my own programming in the SR-18 yet.

I posted, in the music section, a couple of songs I did from a song demo project. One of the songs used the SR-18 drum and bass (and just a little rhythm guitar and singer - nothing else).

Here is the link to the other forum post and you can access the song "Don't Give Up Your Day Job" that used the SR-18. Click Me

Hi Jack

Good to know Alesis has included the 3/4 waltz presetin the SR-18 (always the weak spot in the SR-16).
I couldn't find any info concerning what they offer for preset patterns. I do a certain amount of gospel tunes that require 2/4,6/8, etc. timing. I'm imagine those timings I will have to program myself.

There are several downloadable documents for the SR-18 on the Alesis Site.

HERE is the factory Preset pattern list (in PDF form).

Hi Jack
Thanks for the link.

The listing for the SR-18 only shows pictures of the unit (3). Is there another selection I should be selecting?

When I click on the link it takes me to a page and then click on the link on that page and it brings up the factory program list.

You have to have the Adobe PDF reader or the Foxit reader (what I use) installed to display the list.

Hello Jack

Updated my Adobe and was able to get to all the info. Looks like a real nice unit. Question now is how often will I use it. Sometimes ones intentions are greater than their ambition.
