We have made plans to attend this event and are looking forward to it. Recently my brother Charlie took up playing the steel and he now has a whooping month under his belt . Will he give us a listen? I don't know but maybe. A lot of members won't bring out their rigs and share us what they learn as they are learning for fear of not "measuring up". I hope he plays if for no other reason than to show those who don't come out and have some fun that we all have to start somewhere. Heck look at me. I used to be scared stiff to play in front of you guys....now it's a time to have some fun and share and get great tips along the way. I still get a little nervous sometimes and I still screw up a lot but it's a lot of fun.
There will be a full compliment of Walker Seats available at this jam as well. You will see many members sitting on the seat and there will be brand new seats availble to take home as well. If you haven't tried one please do so. This seat is so popular we now ship it all over the world and right here at home many of the "greats" are using and endorsing the seat. If you want the best then buy the best and let me just say Thanks to all of you who have already made the switch. See you all at the jam

I forgot to mention this and it is really important!!! David Christmas has developed a super light weight Amp stand that is durable and looks really really professional. He will have these at the jam and I am proud to say that I now own my own and I endorse this stand. It is the lightest part of my rig outfit and the lightweight PLUS the least storage area that is needed when moving from place to place...show to show...jam to jam...makes it the best I have used ever. Please see David at the show or E-mail him for how you can get one at dc65_53@yahoo.com and I know you will enjoy yours as much as I am enjoying mine.

Hey folk's Martha and I are looking forward to seeing old friend's and meeting new one's. Ray has been teaching this old guy to play the steel and maybe, just maybe I will try to squeak something by but I would really have to be somewhat comfortable because I would not want to embarass my teacher. Can't wait to see everyone in Kannapolis. |

Geez o pete guys I really appreciate that. I think I read somewhere on John Hughey's Hall of Fame plaque about him being the "Master of the bar "Shiver"". I told John the other day that it's not really that big a deal for me...it comes real natural when you get really nervous. I told him..."heck John I can do it with my left hand as well and top this will ya...I can even do it with my right foot . Skip...thanks buddy..that made me feel good.
Unfortunately you guys have talked me up so much I won't be able to play at the jam this weekend because I promise I can't measure up to all that. Charlie, like me, has been playing music his entire life. Together we have opened for some great acts throughout our lives but I guess the most fun has been sitting around with our Dad and just playing out in the yard. Anyone who has ever heard Charlie sing can realize real quick that he knows and understands great music and has emotion and voicing in his favor. It is a natural move for him to the pedal steel because he knows how to sing and now he will learn to sing through his fingers instead of his mouth. But then again...after his performance down in Saluda singing "Lost In The Feeling" with John Hughey on steel...them guys would rather hear him singing right now. He did a real great job. Who knows we might get him up to sing at the jam this weekend. I'm real proud of him and I'm glad we are getting back into playing together. Sam you do a pretty good imitation of the Hughey bar shiver yourself
See you all this weekend

Hey Ray don't go saying those nice thing's about me because you know I'm just like you and love music with all my heart because Dad gave that to us as a gift. Singing with John Hughey playing the steel was one of the major highlight's of my music life as he is one of my hero'es of the steel guitar buy you my brother are someone I have looked up to not only as my singing partner all those year's but my one and only reason to decide to play the steel guitar. And lord know's as long as your patientce hold's out I'll learn to make the sound's in my head come out in the steel. I Love you Bro. and will see you this weekend |
