| Well I just picked up a Peavey LTD 400 today for $150 with the bw speaker. This is my first steel amp and I have noticed that the bass control is either hitting really hard or not at all. I already contacted Ken Foxx about his mod but am wondering if there is anything I can try before getting it repaired? I have thought about returning it from the store that I bought it but from the reviews that I see I think I will keep it. Do you all think that it is worth it? Sorry for such a question but I am new to all of this and in need of some advice. I have already did a search on the topic and have yet to find anything. Thanks in advance. Mike |

Great amp and a great price. You might at least check the speaker to make sure the foam filter has not rotted and left a bunch of residue in the voice coil gap, assuming it is a Black Widow.
I have a prototype LTD400 with a 12" Black Widow to restore in the shop. This was made by Peavey for Buddy Emmons. It was given to Bobby Bowman by Buddy some years ago and has sat unplayed.
The speaker has the same rotted foam filter in it? I can see it from the back of the speaker. |

If it is rotted out you will see some of it or none at all. If you see the aluminum speaker dust cover from the rear you got a problem. See this one, Buddy's old amp! There is a lump of the old foam rubber just floating around in there!!!
Note the model was a Session on the tag. Not a Session 400 or LTD 400. Very odd!

| Ken, You were right. If I didn't know better I would say that you took a picture of my speaker. What does this mean? Is it bad doc, can she be saved? |

| Take off the magnet and clean it out. Blow out the magnet with compressed air and use brown tape to pick out anything in the magnetic gap. Did mine today. I glued in a piece of black ozite (like thick felt) sd s new dust filter |
