Can't beat that! Go see Miss Leslie and Ricky in person, they are absolutly great and get the Whiskey and the Wine CD. (I wish the steel licks came with the CD, ha ha.)

I think they are going to be at the Circle T Arena in Hamilton Texas on the 29th.

This is a real country band. I love that drummer and bass player there. The drummer is right in the pocket and not over playing, and you can't beat stand up bass. Much better sounding acousticly than electric for classic country. I think Ricky Davis is one of the top classic steel players out there today. This is what we need more of in every town and city. I am in the process of doing just that here.

If you're successful, let us know how to do it. I'm sure some of us here would like to get a franchise.

You either see it or you don't. Real country music is for those who "can see" it. It's not always about big money. YMMV

Leslie reminds me so much of a young prodigy from here in Springdale, Ar. Jeneè Keener ( now Fleenor and with The Terri Clark Show )

How is Jenee Keener doing now? She was once one of the side players at the Texas Steel guitar jamboree in Dallas and I spoke to her for a while..
She was very young back then,I guess this was about 2001....

ML is a good singer and fiddler and RD is certainly good on steel, but two things kind of rubbed me the wrong way about the videos.

First, the songs in all three videos have the same rhythm and tempo (by the way, what is that called... a country 'shuffle'?) Whoever posted the videos could have chosen three songs with different beats.

Second, I thought the steel guitar tone was too bright. Does RD like a bright and spiky tone or is that just how it came out in the mix?

As far as the beat goes, it's what is refered to in Texas and Oklahoma as "Real Country Music".

here ya go Leslie:

As far as the "spikey treble", that's classic shobud tone through a fender twin at it's best, what we down here in this part of the world grew up with and have loved and cherished since the days of ET, Buck Owens and Bob Wills and Ray Price, and we still love it. No, we don't consider it, how you say? spikey? Laughing Razz

To clarify what I mean, the classic example of 'bright and spikey' is the steel on Buck Owens's 'Above and Beyond'.

I prefer the opposite of that, a smoother and more mellow tone like the steel on Charley Pride's 'Just Between You And Me'.
