Inquiring on behalf of a friend, I would appreciate any assistance with determining what exactly this guitar is. The following is a close as I can come.

Since Rickenbacher is spelled with an "h" on the headstock, it could be a 1946 Model post-war NS or S introduction specs:
body stamped from sheet metal, height adjustable horseshoe pickup, 2 knobs, black fingerboard dots or open holes, decal logo, shaded gray finish (some crinkled)......

Also, I have included some pics of the Magna "Melodier" amp they have.

Rick is an NS model, post-war. If you loosen the strings and take out the pickup, you'll probably find that it's stuffed with newspaper (to dampen the resonance.) The first wad or two may be plain newsprint but if you go further up the neck you'll probably find some LA paper that might be a dating clue. (Mine said November 30, 1945.)

Thanks Ben. Good info. I will pass it along.

For those that might be interested, this guitar will be for sale. A post in Instruments For Sale is planned.

That might be as close to pristine as any NS I've ever seen. If it has a good case, it might be the only NS I would consider collectible. JMO

The case is not the original one.

Pat,
Most of these "student" steel guitars are usually found with a chipboard case or a canvas bag. So, that doesn't matter too much.
Is the guitar as close to perfect as it looks?
