It's been said that when a great race horse, or ICON of some kind passes-on, that they will simply be going on to same fabulous race-track or stable in the sky and likewise for all of the other examples one might conjure up.
I've been wondering...... What about old steel guitar players? BOTH the ones that made it BIG during their life time, headlining year after year at the many steel guitar shows, hundreds of recording sessions and international tours; AND, the many more, hopefuls that never quite got to the TOP.
Is there really going to be a homey front porch somewhere, where they will all gather together and talk about the olde times, their failures and their successes, possibly even having impromptu front porch jam sessions together? Never-ending discussions about TONE, Timbre, the Circle of 5th, vintage guitars and amps, etc.
Just curious. As I'm rapidly approaching that next foggy turn in the road of my life, I can't help but wonder if the musical friendships I've made/enjoyed down thro' the years will still be there along with all those fabulous olde Bigsby's, Sho-Buds, Emmons, etc. Or will it simply be one great big poooof and one will next find him/herself surrounded by strangers, banjer pickers and loud stick banging electrified drummers at some rock concert in the sky?

Ray - my friend , you sound a little melancholy !!!!
I'm sure when that day comes for me , I will be sitting on
the porch picking my version of " Twinkle Twinkle little Star "
with Jerry , Buddy & lloyd enjoying it . when along comes Clinton with
a Saxophone and gets millions to protest the steel , and banning
it from ever being played again - then , insisting that the Rolling
Stones take over the porch - & forcing b0b to play Ba^%$ at the
break .
