I will "take delivery" of Jackson Blackjack SD10 #1 via Fedex this coming Tuesday. I am off this weekend and hanging around the forum, so I figured I'd put the pics up for you all to see. These were taken by Jackson as they were putting the final touches on the guitar. You will notice that the pad isn't installed yet. David wants me to play it without the pad first, to see if I like it. I will install the pad myself if I prefer to have it there. (It will come in the case uninstalled.) As you can see, the back apron is not as wide as other SD10s because the neck of the Blackjack is wide by nature. It is a full D10 body, though. Other than the back apron and positioning of the kness, it is a standard Blackjack. The only thing I didn't like about my original Blackjack was the lack of a back apron. I told Harry and David how I felt, and this is the result. Nice work, if you ask me.

As usual, thanks to David, Harry and Dawn for a flawless transaction.

Thanks, Calvin. The string spacing is the same as Sho~Bud, I do believe. Not sure of the exact specs, but it is wide for sure. It makes going from my Professional to the Blackjack a very smooth transition.

EXCELLENT. I think Jackson steels are the most exciting and inovative on the new market today. What
amazing design talent, way ahead of the herd and refreshing. I.M.H.O. of course. Winking

Thanks for the kind words, guys. The Jacksons are always thinking ahead, and I think it speaks volumes that they were willing to alter the body design of one of their models to accommodate a customer.

Yes, Rusty is a wicked player. I could sit and listen to him all day. He makes that Blackjack sound like a million bucks.

I used my old Blackjack to make a video demo if the Line 6 Verbzilla:

Chris

That is one nice looking guitar! Hopefully you only have one more days wait!! I am awaiting delivery of a mid 70's LDG this week as well so we'll both have new toys very shortly!

Question: Is that top row of white nylon tuners (above the standard tuners) tunable half-stops? I'm assuming all the raises and lowers are in the bottom cut-out.

Enjoy the guitar, it's a beauty!

Charlie, you better have it tuned up for me!

Scott, so glad you like the guitar. The LDG is on my short list as well. I'm sure you're gonna love it.

The top row of tuners is for the lowers. You can see I'm lowering strings 9, 8, 6, 4, and 2. It sure makes it easy to quick-tune on stage.

...anxiously awaiting review....

BTW Chris I liked your Verbzilla demo. Did you find that pedal to be noisy or hissy? Seems a number of reviewers on MF and similar sites complained of that, but I thought the effects sounded great. I'd snap one up if I thought it'd be quiet.

Thanks for checking out the video, Scott! I can't remember the pedal being overly noisy. I've since shifted to the Digitech RV7, which I find superior to the Verbzilla, as good as that pedal is.

I haven't had much time to check out the Blackjack since it arrived (been super busy), but I will post as soon as I run it through its paces a bit. So far I'm loving the sound and playability.

Glad you all like it! I just got up from some quality time behind it, and man does it ever sound and play great. I couldn't be happier. The Jackson steels just give the player a great sound without having to go hunting for it. I'm just playing this steel through a Fender Twin, Matchbox and VP. I can't dial in a bad tone on it. Bottom end for miles. The bass on my Twin is set to 2.5, and the bottom end will still knock you over. And the pedal action is quick, tight and smooth. If you want a guitar that just naturally has that rich, deep sound that made Sho~Bud famous, get a Jackson. I believe they will be taking orders on these SD10s very soon. If you need any info or contacts, just send me an email or PM.

I talked to David on the phone tonight. He was calling to see how I liked it. You cannot beat the Jacksons for service after the sale. All around great experience, as usual, with David, Harry and Dawn.
