I just received my issue of the PSGA Newsletter, and there in all of its glory is a cover shot of my buddy Wayne Yakes, surrounded by Neil Flanz, Scotty, Buddy Emmons and Bobby Garrett. Thanks to John Arnold for the great interview/article on Wayne, complete with some photos of friends and family. Not only is he a doctor to many of the steel guitar stars, but he has a heart as big as Texas. His convention parties are always a highlight and a chance to sample some great Texas cuisine. Of course, John captured the essence of the music at these parties:" You need to hear this solo one more time!" Wayne is such a huge influence to the steel guitar community, and I'm proud to see him get this type of well-deserved recognition. He is a great friend.

I didn't get mine yesterday, darn it! I'll be checking the mail the second I get home. Like Chuck says, Wayne has been a friend to a big cross-section of the steel guitar community, and he is a great benefactor and promotor of our instrument. I can't wait to read it.

I feel very fortunate to have been friends with Wayne since around 1980. He is one of the finest people I know on the planet, and look forward to what the future will bring for all of us.

Glad to see him featured in the newsletter--people around here need to be aware of his knowledge of the instrument and what all he has done for our little corner of the world.

You go, buddy...

John,

We missed you in Dallas, but I couldn't agree with you more about Wayne. His kindness, and display of knowledge about the history of our instrument is truly amaizing.

I too am glad the community has been made aware of his presence throught the PSGA.

And BTW, "We can we hear that one more time"?

Best regards,

Jerry

I can't add a thing to what's already been said about Dr. Wayne Yakes except that he's been a very dear friend to me and I look forward to seeing him in St. Louis and Dallas each year. Thanks so much Wayne for your devotion to the steel guitar and it's players.

Dr. Yakes is a good cat and a wonderful friend to the steel guitar industry. His efforts are what got me to go to the Dallas show last year.

Congrats Wayne,
