I would guess that a few of the cats here on the forum have heard of Johnny Hiland. I found him on youtube about a year ago. The thing I dig is that he's not limited to any particular type of music. This dude can play different styles with ease.
I wouldn't want to compete with Johnny on guitar or the dinner table. LOL

Johnny is a amazing player. I've seen him several times at NAMM shows. The first time I was walking from one place to another and I could hear someone playing and I looked at the guys I was with and said someones playing and they are Damm good. I have check out some of the videos he's done and the books too. He can play Tele stuff and turn around and make Eric Johnson look bad. _________________ A couple of guitars

Johnny's originally from Maine and headed for Nashville several years ago. He's a jaw-dropping guitar player and also one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. He plays a custom PRS and with the various combinations of pickups he's got on it along with his ability to play anything from rockabilly to country to bluegrass to jazz to rock and roll, he can get just about any sound he wants. He's also a fine acoustic guitar player. His outstanding musical ability is even more impressive as he's nearly blind. |

That was awesome. Did any of y'all notice how much that solo sounds like a Paul Franklin solo? Very similar kinds of ideas and movements. Wish I could play like that... and then I would! ![Smile](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) _________________ www.JimCohen.com

Uhh...sorry Jim - I think you just lost your chance to host a Jimmy Day remembrance concert!
Johnny's very adept, and was discussed here a few years ago. His fast stuff reminds me a lot of Danny Gatton, in the patterns and phrasing he uses. |
