i've got a fairly new webb amp for sale.
it was custom built for me by tom bradshaw in '08. it has the standard 6-14E pre-amp and emminence speaker, with a distortion unit instead of 5-band parametric e.q.
because the distortion unit takes up less room than the e.q., the amp head is 4" narrower than the stock 6-14E... 18" wide instead of 22" wide. THIS MAKES THE ENTIRE AMP SMALLER AND EASIER TO LUG AROUND THAN A STOCK 6-14E!
between work, gal, dog, and tennis, i'm not really using it.
i can have tom ship it to you if you're not local to the bay area.
oh... and it has the emminence kappalite speaker, which is 15 lbs lighter than the jbl they don't make anymore but sounds just as good.
THIS IS A SMALLER, EASIER TO CARRY 6-14E... WITHOUT COMPROMISING THE WEBB SOUND!

This is a one-a-kind Webb, folks, with very interesting features.
I think that's Bruce's ZB S-10 that Bradshaw reburbed with an all-pull undercarriage, is that correct, Bruce? How's it sound?
I need to come visit you next time I'm in the Bay Area!

that is a zb universal restored by tom... not a 10. it has a ball bearing nut roller, a steel rod underneath to counteract hysteresis (and hysteria), and sounds great. oh... and it is serial #0001 (!).

well, i'm an idiot.
i'm in a 5-piece rock band that rehearses in a room with several mesa boogie lonestar amps... which sound incredible with steel. the guy who owns the lonestars said that mesa boogie had a new amp called an express 5:50 (either 5 or 50 watts of power) that would probably work fine for me.
in the spirt of 'ready, fire, aim!', i managed to sell my webb and THEN try the express 5:50, only to discover that it was under-powered for steel... it sounds great at lower volumes (i.e., it would be great in a recording studio), but didn't have the cajones for a full rock band.
i've managed to un-do everything i set in motion around this, and apologize to those at the epicenter, and anybody watching from a distance.
tom bradshaw and i think there is something called the 'want' gene... when this gene gets triggered, common sense goes out the window because you want something... REALLY want something!
so, in closing... my want gene got triggered, and revealed my true dorkness.
the webb sounds great, i'm keeping it, much ado about nothing, thread closed.

I too am guilty of falling prey to my want gene, or as my wife calls her version "retail therapy". However this does help sometimes, as I just purchased a tweed Fender Bassman (reissue) that sounds great with steel, but I haven't gigged with it yet. It may need to be miked. I just relacquered it (shellac actually) and it is my new pride and joy.
