I am trying this out just for fun. You can have a two pedal, all knee lever set-up on E9th and a four pedal, one(depending on your set-up)lever on B6th. Using the wah means giving up the pedals for an open tuning. I can, for a short time, live without the `C` pedal and my fourth pedal lowers the seventh string to E, which I can do by de-tuning the string. So, losing the third and fourth pedals for a short time is no great problem. For those that use both feet on B6th, you have big advantage, as you can use the effect and pedals five to eight with the volume left where you set it.

Check it out:

I blame my recent fascination with that wonderful `Sacred Steel` sound.

Arch.

I have heard that Sneaky Pete used to bolt effects pedals to the underside of his guitar, and engage them with his knees, so he still had his guitar pedals.

The Sacred Steel players put the wah next to the volume pedal, and just have the volume preset before using the wah. This is a great reason for having a volume knob on a pedal steel. This is how I use the wah, and it works (sort of).

There was a band in the 80's from Kansas City, IIRC, the Jolly Brothers. The guy that played steel had a Fender D8 pedal steel and used the front neck to hold his effects. Don't remember his name but they were a fun band.
