Southern Steel Guitar Seminar-May 16 at the Saluda Shrine Club, Saluda, South Carolina. I will conduct an E9th Seminar from 1:00pm until 4:00pm on Saturday, May 16. Please bring your steel guitar, some amplified headphones and a music stand. I plan to discuss ways of working up steel guitar songs from sheet music, although you really don’t have to be able to read music. Instead, I rely on chords and their positions, a unique way to develop your ears to hear melody to play a variety of songs. I will illustrate this skill with three songs and some exercises to help you develop your own techniques and styles. I also will discuss improving bar technique, working on timing, developing steel guitar smoothness, and using delays to create a more full sound (if time permits). I will also show you how I work up my arrangements for the PSGA Newsletter. I plan to gear the material to players of all levels. In addition, to help make the experience more productive, I will provide you not only with the music and steel guitar tablature, but also with two CDs that are filled with the material that we will discuss. Included on the CDs will be my audio instructions, the rhythm tracks and the steel guitar blended with the rhythm tracks. That way you can leisurely take notes, knowing that the material will be waiting for you to practice when you get home.
If you are going to attend the seminar please notify me in advance so there will be enough CDs and lesson material for all participants. For seminar information contact me through my Email on the Steel Guitar Forum. Seminar admission is $50, and $5 will be donated back to the club.

I going as a beginner, and I know that I will learn something. You can't beat the price for four hours of attention from a player like Chuck.

You'll enjoy Chuck's seminar. I have been to several of them over the years and I can honestly say that Chuck does it right! The best part is that everything that is discussed is already on a CD that is provided to you with all of the tab. You don't have to worry about taking notes and you can relax and learn. I still use these CD's and tab. I would attend this one, but I have moved from South Carolina, (and our band has a gig that night).

If you miss Chuck's seminar, you're missing a lot. Show him your support!

Chuck, your seminar sounds great, lots of great principles all players should begin to understand. Wish it were closer, I'd love to attend.
