I'm writing a column about all things music in the bay area. Bands, artists, boutique amp, pedal, and instrument companies, recording studios, rehearsal studios, scenes, trends, technicians... you name it and I'll cover it.

Some upcoming articles include:

*A tour of MESA HQ and interview with Doug Guest

*Interview with Bananas At Large President Alan Rosen

*Bands/artist features on The Sacred Profanities,
Kitchen Fire, The Robber Barons, Rachel Hanna, Impeller, Second Story Fall, JBD

*Tour and venue/concert review of the newly renovated Fox Theater.

And much much more...

But if you know of a band, or are IN a band, build stuff, etc... and want some publicity, or if you know someone who does lets talk. the idea is to present all aspects of the SF music industry from the inside out, and benefit everyone.

I'd also really like to do a feature on the steel community here in the bay area. I think that would be really fun.

Here's the link to my column:

Y'all can email me at TedRameyMusic@gmail.com

THANKS!!

You should consider an article on Joe Goldmark, longtime great Bay Area steeler, and founding partner in Amoeba Records. Several angles to that cool cat!

New article up to check out. I reviewed the band "The Blank Tapes" who are based out of SF. Great band name by the way. Follow the links in the article to their myspace page. very cool sound that I think people from various backgrounds would enjoy.

Click on the Memberlist link above. Change the sort method to location. A nice way to feature some of the members here on the forum. SF is loaded with some big hitters too: Bobby Black, Joe Goldmark, Barry Sless, etc. Good luck with the article.

if you do any steel player article, bobby black should be the first choice for the area. absolutely the best, most influential, historical and nicest guy. be sure to include his brother/lead picker , the late larry black!

i have a friend i used to play with when i lived in sf who has a trio named "friends of the river" that i would like you to check out...lots of telecaster twang and psychedelic rockin going on...i played steel when i would sit in so they are steel friendly...if you care to introduce yourself to him and want to pick some steel and do pretty much what you feel, then look them up...http://www.myspace.com/fotrband...that is me on steel a year ago on "sunset room" (questionable intonation at times, but hey it was a one off demo session)...mike saliani is the lead guitarist and is a great guy with good chops...
