I need to get clarity on how to wire my D-10's pickups using two mini-toggle switches. I have two single-coil pickups, each has two leads. The circuit will consist of the jack, the two pickups, and two toggle switches. The switches need to allow for each pickup being on or off and both on at the same time (pretty standard). Can I just use two three-terminal on/off switches wired in series with each other, or will I need some other type of switches? Is it as simple as connecting the hot lead from the jack to one switch with one pickup's hot lead, then from the first switch to the second switch with the other pickup's hot lead, then back to a common ground connection for the pickups and the jack, or is the circuit more elaborate than this?
I am trying to replace the hard-to-find double push button switch on my EMCI which has worn out with a quick solution before I do something more permanent. This two mini-toggle switch idea should work easily as the switches will fit into the two holes that are already there. Hopefully I can find a good replacement switch, but I need some interim solution.
Thanks,
Cliff |

You don't need 2 switches- just a DPDT on-on-on (center on)switch- I probably have some at the shop- or Radio Shack. |

Cool--thanks, Jim. I thought it would be easy to do two switches as there are two holes and I can just snug the switches down with the nut on the switches without having to use a plate, etc. I guess it would be easier to just do a three-way toggle, as you suggest, in one of the holes and leave the other hole blank. When I get to your shop I'm sure you can show me a more elegant solution, but I'm thinking of a quick-fix right now. |

Here's the wiring diagram I've made for pickups with split coil....and three way switch for two necks.
