| Any pedal steel players ever use a Peavey Classic 30? Do they have enough clean power? |

Jim, you are probably hoping to use it for pedal steel and maybe larger gigs, so I'll say this for the benefit of steel players.
The PV-C 30 is an excellant amp that a forumite (that doesn't check in much) and good friend of Jerry Byrd uses to get the famous JB 'moan' out of his bakelites, without much effort. But he could do it with any amp...
A search in the Sw/oP section should bring up these details and more about this amp.
Overall, it's a fine steel and guitar amp, and with a few minor mods can be made to suit just about any player/style. |

| I have an older Classic 30 head that's the best overall guitar amp I've ever owned - retired a no-master 50w Marshall and a Mesa Boogie, that one... but for steel, it's iffy. If you're miking it and using the PA power as your main source of volume, you can get away with it, but it's really marginal on clean headroom if you want to use it to keep up with a band. The low notes on C6th overload the preamp, unless you attenuate your signal. |
