hi folks.
i'm apparently the proud new owner of this fine pedal steel guitar. i was wondering if any of you seasoned gentlemen out there might remember what brand and/or make this is...?
not that it matters much, but it would be nice to know.

c'mon fellers,
someone's gotta have some ideas?
i mean, heck, i love the silly posts, don't get me wrong. i could do that all day, but someone out there has got to have seen those endplates or that changer or the fretboard on something....
whit wilson who contributed to the fund to rescue this poor little orphaned guitar thought it might be a lincoln or a clark....
i can find no pictures or even a mention using the google device on my computator.
anyone got some pictures of those brands?
go over to grampa's chair and wake him up and ask him if he aint seen one these before....

well folks,
got this fine guitar delivered today.
the pictures don't show how truly grimy this guitar really is.
it's filthy and smells like a moonshiners trailer(believe me, i know). alot. i'm gonna have to let it air out on the front porch before my wife gets home.
i am now of the opinion that this is a home made guitar. and for a midget at that. it sounds like how it looks. but sort of cool at the same time. kinda like a telecaster. chinese made.
the fretboard is also home made. i've gotta tip my hat to the maker. he cut out many, many small pieces of colored tape applied to a spraypainted piece of metal. the the changer assembly looks hand cut. i wont know about the changer fingers until such time as i take it apart. really kinda interesting to say the least.
the endplates are only for show. there's a steel endplate assembly under them. the strings are spaced very far apart. interesting side note...the changer has a sinlgle lower and a triple raise. i was messin' around with the bell cranks to try to get them to work but i have to give myself a bit more time. right now, i've got the two knee levers working(if you wanna call it that). only the c pedal worked when i took it out of the box. i've got the b pedal working but still have to set the stop. snapped a frozen set screw on pedal a...gotta find a new one. all different size nuts and screws and parts.....truly a bride of frankendekley...
what fun. i suggest everyone do this.... _________________ 82'sho-bud u-12, frankendekely u-12, bride of frankendekley u-12, a whole mess of other instruments...finger still messed up but getting better... |
