Chet,
you have outdone yourself on this one.
This one looks the best.IMO the best one you have ever done. You are really getting 100% on this cabinet work.
Unbelievable sharp looking guitar with a lot of great inlay work.
Thumbs up bigtime.

Chet, congrats on #122!!! That is a beautiful looking guitar. I love the color scheme and that shade of red color. Red seems to go so well with the lovely natural tone of the maple.
Judging by the level of shine on the key head it looks like you got that down to a "T" also...something I am struggling with.
I wonder who is the lucky Canadian?
I would love to see a pic of the undercarriage also...
Now..on to # 123! |

Bent, I used Cherry Red Stain, and Nitrocellulas Laquer from Stewart Mc Donnalds, 5 coats of laquer, and then sanded flat with 330 grit sandpaper between each coat of Laquer, then 1000 Steel wool and then a paper towel to buff the shine. I will get a picture of the under carriage when i can get some sunshine, cloudy here . my camera is not to good, Chet |

Chet, thanks for the tips..
Hm..would you say that the red in the picture turned out a tad darker than in real life?
I am also using Nitro Cellulose ( Instrument lacquer)
I am getting nervous because StewMac wont ship that stuff across the border, and a supplier I found in Quebec, is so slow getting it in and I am pretty well ready for it.
Again, a beautiful job and I am looking forward to seeing the upside down picture! |

Bent, the Red dye is actually very red that has to be mixed with water or alcohol. but the tiger Maple made the dark marks. |

I guess I might as well pipe in on this since Chet built me the exact guitar I wanted. I look forward to receiving #122 in the next couple of weeks. Chet, everybody is right...I never imagined that I would get such a beautiful hand finished instrument. I can't thank you enough for the work you put into it. It's absolutely stunning and I can't wait to play it! Thanks so much, Chet, It's been a pleasure dealing with you...
Adam
I'll try to post a few more pics once I have it in my hands. |

I am going to chime in as well. The Wilcox guitar is really starting to come into its own. This horn is a real beauty ! I just love that laquer. Chet has always dealt with me on an upfront basis, and I only wish I had the cash to get a new horn such as this fine example. Right now I am trying to make up my mind whether to go with a D-10 or a U-12. If I go with the Uni,I will have to switch builders,If I go with the double,my back will never forgive me ! What a dilemma. I still love Chet's guitars. I have owned two and they just keep getting more advanced and more beautiful, not to mention they have both been tone monsters. _________________ D.S.
