I've had it for a couple weeks now and got to play my first gig with it Saturday night. Sounds as good as it looks!
I can't say enough about the Rudolph's craftsmanship. Pictures truly don't do it justice.

I had some fun with the boys in the band... I setup and sound checked with my old guitar... then switched guitars when they were gone. The reactions were priceless!!

Rick

oh and btw... the guitar isn't distorted like my creative pictures make it appear... Very Happy

I have admired Bill's craftmanship for a long time. His guitars have the cleanest undercarriage I have ever seen. Absolutely beautiful!

That's a great lookin' guitar, Rick. Bet it sounds awesome, too! Nice color choice, it kinda gives it a vintage look. Smile

PUP is a Tonealigner.
The pole adjustments made a big difference in string volume balance.

Yes, I'm real happy with the color...I picked it from pictures, so I was a little nervous about how it would look in person, but it's just what I imagined.

Absolutely beautiful guitar!....Were the non colored fretboards available as an option or did you specifically request them as a special order? I have long admired Williams guitars but thought those large colored squares on the fretboards greatly detracted from their appearance.

I'm due to get my new Williams S-12 in early June. Can't wait! I ordered natural lacquer finish on curly maple. Thinly controlled hysteria...

I'm not sure where you're measuring that, but I get .34 (11/32")c-to-c at the changer.

Rick, I was measuring at the end of the fretboard, about the area where you pick.

.31- 10/32" there... same as your 10-stringer... kinda thought it should be the same.

HI RICK,

Your new WILLIAMS S-12 UNIVERSAL PSG (700 Series)is one of the most beauitiful guitars I have seen.

Quite a few players who have been playing steel guitar for many years refuse to go to a S-12U PSG, because they can't live without the D, 9th string on the E-9th tuning. Some people have done it others claim they can't do it. Question
What's the story here.????

Some good discussion of universal tuning here:

http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=156615&highlight=universal

For me, the transition wasn't too terrible; it took me awhile to get used of the different "home grip".
The missing D is replaced by lowering the 8th string on my copedant. Yes I miss it at times, but lowering the E has it's own unique useages that I'd miss too.

Some are daunted by the extra strings too; I've found that getting that home grip down to automatic is key.

The ultimate heresy: a keyless U12:

Looks familiar, doesn`t it Rick ? Honey amber is the name of the colour, I think.
