Boo,
I could be mistaken, but your Carvin appears to be a model #8DHG-5B with an AP-8 pickup. Carvin made those for years, with the majority of them being sunburst in color. In 1966 it sold for $69.90 w/o case or legs. Chrome plated legs were $19.90 and so was the hard shell case. I too used to drool over these items in the Carvin catalog.
Cheers!
Benton
PS. The Evans amp I bought from you is still purring like a kitten! |

Russ, thanks for the link to those catalogs that is awsome stuff. i really dig old ads on steels an other instruments in fact, i have a pretty good collection of old ads from back in the day and alot of them i have had sighned by the endorsers like Charlton, pete drake,emmons,ect.. hey russ tell ole Mark (I cant even pronounce his last name so i wont even try to spell it) . Fiddle player, that lisa and i said hey and lisa says hey to you too .

Above are from the 1968 catalog but the model didn't change much over the years it was offered. Sometimes in sunburst but more often natural maple. Adjustable or non-adjustable polepieces. Legs were an upcharge. You had to buy a case with the instrument. They also sold a parts kit which was everything but the body for do-it-yourself-ers. _________________ "Wisdom does not always come with age. Many times age arrives alone." |
