As an aside to Herb Steiner's thread about the great Benny Martin, fiddler extraordinaire, I've decided to start a thread containing YouTube links to two other, great fiddlers. Whom, thankfully, are still playing: Richard Greene and Bobby Hicks. As alot of Forumites know, both have played with many, many bluegrass, country, and rock bands and musicians. Anyway, heres a link to Richard Greene playing for the 1997 G8 Summit:

Richard, a few months ago:

Bobby Hicks from a live TV broadcast (probably in the late 70's) probably shortly after his Texas Crapshooter album came out. The band looks like J.D. Crowe and The New South:

Bobby Hicks did the classic "Big Mon", "Monroe's Hornpipe", and several other standard with Bill Monroe in the late 50's. Richard Green did some classic Monroe recordings in the early 60's, like "Blue Night", "Dusty Miller", Midnight On The Stormy Deep", etc...
Bobby went on to work with Porter Wagoner and Judy Lynn in Las Vegas. He returned to bluegrass with Ricky Skaggs in the 80's.
Richard has played a lot of different music. He did some great recordings with Peter Rowan, as well as some of his own. |
