All right folks, here is a link to me doing a solo break over Crazy Arms with my band, Slim White and The Averys. This was from our first gig this past Saturday Night. I know that the sound quality isn't the greatest and the video is even worse...what do you expect from a digital camera. Did I mention this was my FIRST gig as a steel guitarist ? We do classic country and are getting a good response so far...we'll see.

Way to go Dustin. You did good. Maybe I am off the wall on that song, but if it was played a little slower, you would have more time to get your sounds out above the rest of the band. Keep up the good classic country. We need more of that in Ohio, and all over the world. _________________ Sho-Bud LDG, Martin D28, Ome trilogy 5 string banjo, Ibanez 4-string bass, dobro, fiddle, and a tubal cain. Wow,this great feedback is wonderful. I will try to respond. I will stick up for the guys in my band, they are absolutely DEDICATED to keeping it COUNTRY. We do a lot of classic country and some classic country rock ( Gram Parsons and The Band). We play it a little uptempo because we want to keep these kids dancing. We are going to develop some weepy steel guitar stuff too. The responses that we have gotten so far have been great. Evidently, more people really want to hear the mostly traditional style that we play. It is really refreshing to see that another generation besides the older folks appreciate the traditional sound ! Gives me some hope for the future of the "Traditionalist" movement !
The guys in the group want to learn "Wichita Lineman" and meld the vocal style in with "Big E's" insrumental version ! Now THAT will be a HUGE challenge ! |

Nice work! Funny about that song...I've been working on Crazy Arms to try and get me back into the swing of things after 25 years away from it. I've been using the Patty Loveless version--the steel is so sweet on that, and I love the intro. _________________ Sho Bud Super Pro D10 |
