I'm configuring 4 small personal stage monitors like the diagram below. So far we're trying speakers we have lying around. One pair of them is likely more efficient - I don't know which yet. Please check my calculations I think the amp should see 5.3 ohms. Thanks.

Not a great diagram above but we have 2 8 ohm spkrs in series, 2 4 ohm spkrs in series and that combination in parallel. Thanks |

Been a while but if memory serves me right the formula is this:
Series = X + X so 4 + 4 = 8
Series = 8 + 8 = 16
Parallel = X times X divided by X + X
so 8 x 16 = 128
8 + 16 = 24
so 128 divided by 24 = 6.4 Ohms
Hope that's right - others may correct me.

Gary, your formulas are right, but your arithmetic is awful:
128 / 24 = 5.33
