Was it really the style to wear your pants just under your ribcage? I'd be doomed!

Those pants will haunt me Whoa!

The legs on that steel look like they fold up. I wonder how well such a system would work?

Oh! Man! Where can I get me a pair of those pants! Look at the belt loops! They're like Zoot Suit pants gone mutant! The tuning machine buttons look European. Seen them before.

A couple of things in that picture say "Eastern Europe" to me, mostly the man's clothes and the design of the steel guitar.

I'm hoping Basilh will step in here. He's got a good chance of recognizing the guitar.

Looks like it could be an Epiphone console, similar to what L.T Zinn plays.

I THINK that's a "Nudie" shirt Oh Well
He's quite obviously the falsetto singer in the band.
Surely that hat isn't correct with a western shirt ?

Here is the Epiphone I referred to above, as played by the elegant Mr. Zinn:

Is the original photo an early shot of Mr. Zinn ?

Revised - The picture that is just above was between 4-6 years ago in Waikiki at the HSGA convention.

By the way Leonard has recovered from his health problem and is perking again, i.e. that means his onery self. Laughing

I think Alan was referring to the photo that Andy Volk posted at the beginning of the thread, and wondering if that was L.T. "back in the day".

I'm sure it's not. Here are some old shots of L.T. with his band the 101 Ranch Boys. He doesn't bear much resemblance to our mystery steeler IMO.

Your are right, Scott.
I was skimming too fast and did not relate it to the right picture.
Thanks for pointing it out.
I revised the earlier post.

Hmm. Look at the buttons on his shirt. Did he miss a couple or do you think maybe there are three and three, with one hidden inside those great-looking pants?

I think Fred Mertz wore pants like those.

Where did you find that picture?

Three/double buttoning like that was very common on western shirts in the 40's and 50's, very cool little detail to spice up a shirt design. The high waist on slacks was also more than common, sometimes referred as "Hollywood waist". Wide belt loops was a rule on western pants, the guy in the photo is wearing rags that would feed you for months if you sold them on ebay today. Death to sneakers!!! Evil Twisted
And the guitar is an Epiphone, naturally! Cool
