First off, pardon me if I posted this in the wrong forum. I will be visting Nashville on April 15th and 16th for the first time and would like to catch steel guitar shows in the mecca.
I'd really appreciate any recommendations on which performances to catch on those days and how I can get to them.
Additionally, I am also interested in touring guitar manufacturers. I enquired with Gibson but was told they don't have any more factory tours of the nashville facility. If you can provide me recommendations - that'd be great.
thanks in advance,

Gibson has a small manufacturing operation inside Opry Mills shopping center (located next to the Grand Ole Opry building and where Opryland used to be). The production facility has windows so you can watch. They also have a store adjacent to the production facility with all the various Gibson models (and you can play them).
But, don't forget to stop at Bobbe Seymour's, Steel Guitar Nashville, in Hendersonville (northern suburb of Nashville). |

Jack, Thanks for your note. I will definitely visit the Gibson shop you describe.
Do folks have any suggestions about any good steel guitar performances and if you can provide me pointers to it.
thanks,

Lower Broadway is always worth checking out, both afternoon and evening, but you never know for sure what you might hear. On Wednesday night, Mike Sweeney is usually at the Preston Hotel, out near the airport (Briley Parkway at I-40), and Chris Scruggs is playing straight steel (no pedals) with Carolyn Martin's Western Swing Band at the Nashville Palace near Opryland. Thursday night you can catch Eddie Lang from the Bill Anderson Band at the Preston with the Music City Playboys. |

Also The Grand Ole Opry is starting a Thursday night show with strictly traditional country music, finally. |
