Almost therapeutic

I did indeed finally break down and buy a Dobro this past week, I am loving it. I had been playing my lap Steel with a GBDGBD tuning for a while and found a good deal on a used Hound Dog deluxe.

The link above is one of my favorites, Amazing Grace by Martin Gross.

I'm hooked

Tony, I liked the pedal efect with his third finger stretching the string. Thanks for sharing it with us. A Pickin' Bro. Doyle

Yep, Amazing Grace sounds good on Dobro. Very Happy

But I hate Amazing Grace played on bagpipes. Mad

Welcome to the realm. It's not an addiction. Really. I can stop anytime I want to. I don't need a 12-step program. Very Happy

It's a sweet sound. The first time I heard one played by someone who could actually play it, I was hooked. Amazing Grace was the beginning song for me. I continue to work on it.

did you catch how he bent the strings? that is the most difficult thing. Busy left hand.

Tamara, I totally agree and I'm not hooked either, I can put it away anytime I want..Rolling Eyes I have always been a sort of Dobro fan, listened to the premium players, all that stuff, tuned a lap Steel to the Dobro tuning , fooled around, but now..

Having the actual piece of wood with strings a neck and a few bars, I find myself mesmerized by many of the unknown players, not just the top 3 or 4. I can't believe I waited so long to dive into this Instrument. It is such a compliment to Steel and Guitar, I'm embarrassed that I am such a late bloomer !

That's the phrase, Tony...perfect complement to the pedal steel. Everytime I play my dobro, I become expanded in my steel playing in general.
It is SO good to have an alternate acoustic variation to our steel addiction!
