This is the solo and ending from my recent recording of "Invitation to the Blues"... played on a 1970s Emmons student model with 3 pedals and 1 knee lever, E9 tuning.

This part is at 1:09 through 1:40 of the audio clip below. The ending is at 2:11... (at the end) Winking

The speed patterns are played in triplets with the accent on the first note of each triplet: 1 and ah 2 and ah 3 and ah... Enjoy.

Nice stuff, Doug. You sound great as always.
What progam do you use to write tab? I tried it on Word today, and it was a pain in the patoot!

Thanks Jack! I use TablEdit. It's not easy to use IMO, but it does a nice job.

What kind of grease do you use on your fingers? Mine won't move that fast. Really a great job Doug.

Thanks Chuck!

Jack, in TablEdit click on Score/Instrument/Pedal Steel Guitar

Then click Score/Instrument/Tuning, and in the drop down menu choose PSG E9 Chromatic (or PSG C6).

The E9 mode is preset for pedals A, B, C. And there are presets for 3 or 4 knee levers. You can change any of them (the letters and functions) to do whatever you want them to do. You can also add or omit strings, change the tuning, etc. I use TE for guitar, lap steel (6 str. & 8 str.), dobro, and PSG. PSG is more complicated than the other modes because of the pedal/lever changes. The MIDI plays the tab, so that's handy. There are lots of options and preferences, so it takes some time and tinkering to figure it out. If you don't want the notes you can get rid of them and just show the tab.

Doug
Thanks again for this post. I have worked my modified version of this run to death. I have another question.

This run can be started with pedals down and sounds great as well but I seem to lose it at 15th fret From pedal up start I can get back to 8th fret fairly easily(15, 13, 8 8pd) and go from there but it is eluding me from the pd start.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

That's one of my favorite tunes, Doug! Thank you, and I enjoyed the way you played the entire song. I think I'll just save that one... to not only practice with...but enjoy listening to the whole tune as well.

Thanks guys. Chuck, I'm not sure what you mean by the pedal up start. There are a few ways to move around with these pattens. You might want to check the tab posted on this page ---> Click

Thanks Doug. That other run is great as well.

I only meant that you can start your run as pedal up (from key of G) or pedal down (key of C) it is the same till the last chord. I'll work it out, thanks to your help.

Doug

Have you got another simple two finger or three finger one that will work that way as well? After the last post I ordered the 1 pedal 2 finger 3 string song from Scotty. I find myself picking it with three fingers and having trouble with conecting the dots so to speak. I find I can pick the basic structure faster the more I pick it.

Is there no help for the widows son.....? After 16 years of playing this thing, I think I'm beginning to understand it.

Surprised
