Well I have a guitar coming that's "tone to the Bone"as some pickers say.But I have a big problem. Its sitting at a UPS hub 3 miles from me and can't get it till Monday!!!. That's like taking candy from a kid!!.
Hope I can survive til then. First guitar I have bought in 32 years.Old man is anxious.

Well, The tone monster got here late yesterday and here's a sample with some minor tweaking out of the box.
Will change the pickups and clean it up later.

HI VERN,
I throughly enjoyed your playing on "Sweet Memories".
I honestly don't know how any other pickup could improve on the tone of this guitar. ?????

I don't know what kind of guitar that is but if i was half as good as the player i'd play all of the time. That was awesome. Jimmie |

Thanks,
Yep its an old MCI,found out in Texas,Welded frame.
Had Barcus Berry pickups,one read 12.64 k DC resistance,the other 24.60 K???.
Put in a 705 at 20.6k and a 605 at 18.5 k.You should hear it now.

Roger,
Will do it another day or so.Working on the Knee levers today. Can't reach RKR and LKL very easy with my short legs. The Barcus-Berry's were sweet, but the Bill Lawrence blades are much fuller sounding and still maintains the substain.I may try some 710's later.

Sounded great. I'll never forget Harold, He was a neat guy. You are to vernon. Me and Leonard Bick still talks about the Benefit we had for Harold. Wonder how Dean Neely is doing.

What a truly beautiful performance. Frankly, I enjoyed the first clip more. There was more of a raw steel sound that really excited my musical core.
What amp and/or affects are YOU using?
WHO does you're visuals? Really fine. |

Ray,
I am using a tube pre-amp into MX 200 lexicon,then a MXP100 Lexicon, to a small 8 ch mixer,into a Sony computer.This gives me 4 different effects.I am trying a new patch up today,sounds great so far.
Gary, good to hear from you,Dean was here Wednesday to try out this guitar. He is doing quite well for an old codger like me.

Vernon,
You have for a fact got some serious tone going on there. Very nice playing, too. Your use of harmonics really set that tune off. I enjoyed it!
Have fun with that tone machine.

I had the pleasure of listening to John Lazarus' killer EMCI last night and all I can say is "WHERE'S MINE????"
Somebody out there has got to have a single neck they want to sell me........ _________________ Always remember you're unique..... Just like everyone else |
