This is the small pickup that Bruce made a few years back that sits in front of the steel's pickup for a dobro sound.

I have one of those and even bought the little pre-amp that Bruce had to go along with it.
Sorry, but I want to keep it. |

Hey Erv, I had one and sold it a couple of years ago. I was playing a JCH and the string height low and I barely had enough room for it to slide under the strings so I stopped using it. I'm playing a Nash LTD now and wanted to try one with this guitar. I liked using it.

I have one also and am still using it. It is a very nice unit and really does a great job. Too bad they are not still available. _________________ Zum D10 8x5,rev pre-amp, TC M300, Split 12, n-112, IZZY, Hilton vp, Geo L, BJS Hughey, Live Steel |

Erv or Jack, can one of you check the ohms that pickup reads? I might be able to have one made if I can't find one. I appreciate it very much.

jack, better check that reading again. .9 ohms is almost a dead short. .9k ohms might be more like it, or 900 ohms. if i remember right, those were pretty small pickups so didn't have room for that much wire, so somewhere around 1000 ohms, (1k ohms) sounds about right. |

by golly, my friend said the same thing when he checked it-- "almost a dead short." so he checked again and still showed .9. but I will check with him again asap and see if that may have been .9k instead. that doesn't sound like much to me, either. We took off the back of the preamp and plugged it into the pick up and then retested that way and his tester showed 5.2K ohms. Maybe this is more like it.---Jack _________________ Zum D10 8x5,rev pre-amp, TC M300, Split 12, n-112, IZZY, Hilton vp, Geo L, BJS Hughey, Live Steel |

hey bruce, would ya send my broken pickup back...?
i think it was 16 years ago or so. |

What location would you place the pick-up? IOW, is there a common sweet spot at a particular fret? I had a pick-up made by a fellow in California that has (3) "leads" that provides (3)distinctive ohm values available that I can wire to a switch and pick the value I like the best. It is thin enough to place under the strings but I haven't installed it yet. Just wondering if there's a good place to start experimenting with it. Thanks, MB |

mine is mounted 1/2 in. before the E-9th pick up from edge to edge between the dobro pickup and the E9th. _________________ Zum D10 8x5,rev pre-amp, TC M300, Split 12, n-112, IZZY, Hilton vp, Geo L, BJS Hughey, Live Steel |
