Hi Everyone.
I have been an avid reader of the forum for a long time and like all of you I am always getting very useful information to do with our beloved steel guitars.
I am very lucky because I get to meet lots of the other Aussie and New Zeland players and am privileged to be able to call many of them my personal friends. (too many to mention here) They are forever encouraging me and helping me keep my spirits up when I feel my playing is not improving like I think it should be.
I bought my first pedal steel (JEM S12 3x4) about twelve years ago and have been besotted ever since. I got to St Louis for the first time last year and Scotty and his family treated my wife and I like long lost cousins. It was amazing to meet many of the great players who were very generous with their time and again made us feel so at home.
Here's to the future and thanks Bob for letting me be part of this amazing Steel Guitar Family.

Hey Nick, glad to see you here! Lots of nice people here mate. I'm looking forward to hearing you play that Carter again. Will you be playing at Belrose anytime soon?
All the best,

Dean, great to hear from you.
I got to play at Belrose last Sunday. As you know the next one will be on the last Sunday of April so I hope I will get to sit in. It would be great to see you there especially if you were playing as well.
Terri and Bob told me you are doing a Hawaiian gig. How is that going?
Take care, Nick. _________________ Mullen SD10G2 4x5 (Black), Carter S-10 3x5, Peavey Session 400, Peavey Nashville 112, Fender MS80, Boss DD3, Goodrich and Telonics volume pedals, Alesis QuadraVerb, Fender Strats x2, Fender Nashville Power Tele, Takamine NP-15C, Boss TU-12, Peterson VS-11, Strobo-flip and strobo-clip tuners, D2Fcovers,seat,legs, amps, guitars. |

Hi Nick,
Welcome to the forums mate, a fantastic resource for steel players of all persuasions. Since you already know Dean I hope we'll get to meet up some time soon for some "steel jam and chatter".
I see you have a Carter S10, so you're well on your way. I have a Carter D10 and just love it. When we get together you'll have to give me the good oil on effects.
Catch you soon I hope! _________________ The steel guitar is a hard mistress. She will obsess you, bemuse and bewitch you. She will dash your hopes on what seems to be whim, only to tease you into renewing the relationship once more so she can do it to you all over again...and yet, if you somehow manage to touch her in that certain magic way, she will yield up a sound which has so much soul, raw emotion and heartfelt depth to it that she will pierce you to the very core of your being. |

Hi Nick, welcome to this Great Forum, The Brotherhood of Steel Guitar Players. I enjoyed my visit to your home on my Australian visit. Give my regards to your wife, and Im sure my brother Roy and his wife Ann will be in contact with you in the near future. I arrived home on Thursday night (10pm UK time) and played a gig on Friday evening, boy was I tired, but I got thru without falling off my seat.
Nick I hope we will see you sometime in the future at the Irish Steel Guitar Festival again, in the meantime, keep your head down, and play the hell out of your Carter. Best of luck

Thank you all for the big warm welcome and as I said in my first post I am very privileged to have you guys as my friends.
listening to and watching you all play is what keeps me scratching away at my guitar in the hope that one day I might play that special lick or phrase. ( I know they are in there somewhere ......... now finding them that's another thing ). To Michel and Tomi, you two have had so much patience with me over several years now and I thank you both for letting me invade your homes and pick your brains and eat your food. Tomi, you should have been a surgeon. To watch you in action on an upturned guitar or with a smoking soldering iron fixing my volume pedal or other stuff brings a big smile to my old face.
Ivan and Paddy, I am really looking forward to meeting up with you again at the Brisbane Steel Show in June. It would not be the same without you.
Ted, if I ever find myself back in Ireland I know you will see a lot of me up there in beautiful Carrickfergus.
To Jerry, I love Tasmania. I have been a couple of times and I could see myself living there one day. Is there much country music going on there?
Ned, I have never met you but I am looking forward to it as I did a bit of flying in Ireland and then in Bankstown in the 70's and of course there is the issue of the pedal steel to be sorted out ( if only it was that easy !!!!)
To Nick in Tennessee, I have not met you either but I had a great time in Nashville last year on our way to St Louis. Went to the Station Inn for the Time Jumpers. Man that was something else! I was introduced to Mr Paul Franklin by our own Warren Nielsen. What a thrill. I had tears in my eyes and lumps in my throat all night long. Also spent countless hours in many of the bars on Broadway. Had a ball. I'd love to go back sometime.
Dean, your lap steel playing at the Tudor Inn during the Tamworth Festival was awesome. I love listening to you play and I am looking forward to hearing you on "pedal"
That's it folks I hope I haven't bored you but that's how I see my world.

Nick,
How could I have missed this post!
Welcome aboard at long last.
Hoping to catch up with you and Anne soon - we're getting accustomed to having a baby around the house.
On her second day in this world I played her a CD in the hospital with B Seymour playing...gotta get them started young...
Glad you're on here, catch you soon.

Damien, Thanks for the reply. Sorry we haven't been in touch for so long. Little Ruby will be playing steel with Tall Timbre if we don't catch up with her soon. As you both can see, it's a whole new world with a baby in the house. Enjoy it though because time goes quickly. Our "babies" are 33, 27 & 24 years old now. Where did that time go ????? Are you guys playing over the Easter ? I've missed you the last few times but for the best reasons, I was also playing. Will catch up soon.
Thanks for the welcome Charles. I'd love to visit your part of the States one day.
G'day Wayne. Thanks. It was my pleasure to meet you last June and hopefully we will get to see you again this year. Will you be playing ?
Geoff, Thanks for the welcome. It's great to hear from another Sydney steel player. What area do you live in? I am near Parramatta.
This sure is one big friendly family and I am delighted to be part of it at last.
Take good care all and have a safe and Happy Easter, Nick _________________ Mullen SD10G2 4x5 (Black), Carter S-10 3x5, Peavey Session 400, Peavey Nashville 112, Fender MS80, Boss DD3, Goodrich and Telonics volume pedals, Alesis QuadraVerb, Fender Strats x2, Fender Nashville Power Tele, Takamine NP-15C, Boss TU-12, Peterson VS-11, Strobo-flip and strobo-clip tuners, D2Fcovers,seat,legs, amps, guitars. |
