I was cleaning out a closet and found an old LP called "Music to Back Up By",,,it is stereo with steel and band on one track,,then switch to the other track and steel is cut out,,has some good west coast (mooney) style on some tracks. Question,,,does anyone know if there was tab included for this LP,,or does anyone have the tab??? |

There is tabs for The bandstand back-up course part1 and also part 2. don't know if these are the same or not as music to back up by. _________________ Zum D10 8x5,rev pre-amp, TC M300, Split 12, n-112, IZZY, Hilton vp, Geo L, BJS Hughey, Live Steel |

No Jack,,this LP pre-dates the Bandstand Back up course,,,it is at least 25 years old. Some great steel playing on it,,,the way steel used to be. Man, Jeff was good!!! |

in the Steel Guitarist magazine, with Jeff Newman on the cover, there is a "Jeff Newman Anthology". It lists it as having a recording.Has anyone considered re-releasing some of his out of print materials? |

This course was released in 1969. It included a record and a tab book. I believe it was also available with a cassette. There is a lot of west coast style playing in this course. You don't hear a lot of it these days.
As for re-releasing it Jeff Newmans' widow Fran would most likely be the one to do that. The demand most likely won't warrant the need to spend hundreds of dollars to update it. |

In some other threads, Fran Newman was quoted as saying she might be interested in reissuing some of Jeff's older material but only if there was a huge demand for it. Everything Jeff did was great!! Maybe those of us interested in Jeffran Music expanding should start compiling a list of items we would like to see reissued and send the list to Fran.

I would like to see the reissue of his out of print materials. "Jeff Newman with a Few Good Friends" as well as his first 20+ Woodshed Workshops. |
