After careful scrutiny and lengthy consideration of all possibilities........I tend to believe the model in this photo is some wealthy, southern, plantation owner (the hat, is the give away).
He definitely is not a real musician and more specifically, not a steel player, as he has one of those confounded BANJERs strung around his neck. A real steel player would never get caught like that.
Those pesky Banjer pluckers and drummers all like to hang out with the band. Just sitting there behind that expensive, technically constructed electro steel guitar, will no doubt be the highlight of that guys' day.

The hat solves the mystery, it is b0b, the creator and owner of the Steel Guitar Forum. However, I was unaware of his love for the banjo, as is obvious in the picture!
