There will be a Steel Guitar Hall of Fame, Inc., fundraising show, Saturday, Feb 21, 2004 at Catfish Johnny's Restaurant in Lake Panasoffkee, Fl. (Catfish Johnny's is the home of the Florida Steel Guitar Club). The Show will be 11am Till ? Tickets will be $20 and that includes a Fish Dinner that will be catered by Catfish Johnny's Restaurant. We will announce when and where advanced Tickets may be purchased when the ticket issues are finalized.

Confirmed performers, so far: Don Helms, Herby Wallace, Johnny Bush, Lynn Owsley, Billy Robinson, Scotty, Donna Darlene Jackson, Russ Hicks and the Calhoun Twins. More will be added as they are confirmed. Several of the Florida Steel Guitar Club members will also perform. Lynn Owsley is the main coordinator for the show.

Lake Panasoffkee is 3 miles west of Exit 321 on I75 and is approximately 65 miles west of Orlando and about the same distance north of Tampa. And about 30 miles south of Ocala (Silver Springs Park) Fl.

We are working on one of the area Motel's for those that will be staying overnight. Lake Panasoffkee is a small town so we will be limited on Motel options.

You can check our web page announcement for updates as they become available. There is also a link on the announcement to a map showing where Catfish Johnny's is located. http://web.tampabay.rr.com/jstoner1/hofshow.htm

We realize some of the show particulars are still being developed but since a lot of people travel to Florida in the winter, we wanted to get what we had out ASAP.

Well this should be a great show and I'm looking forward to being there. Lynn Owsley and Scotty are doing a great job putting together a first class show. Florida has needed a show like this for sometime. Since Larry Self retired and moved to Tennessee it just hasn't been the same.

I hope to see everyone there as this should be some show!

It's gonna be a fun week-end for sure. I may have a problem after the show getting Laney to leave Fla. and come back to Tenn. I believe she may love all that sun-shine more than she does me....on second thought, that's a total impossibility....what do you think, Smiley?

Dear Sam,

Larry Self is living in Dayton, TN which is around 35 miles north of Chattanooga. I still see him every now and then. Larry was at St. Louis Labor Day weekend and helped me at my booth.

Again, looking forward to the FL show.

Myron,
Unfortunatley we have the use of Catfish Johnny's Place for the one day of Saturday February 21st, 2004.
Sunday he is close for the Lord's Day and Friday he has dances.
Maybe in the future if this is a success accommodations may be made for more than one day. Also with so many shows around the Country these days it is very tough to schedule players for such an event and must be done several months in advance.
Thanks for your interest,
Don

Dear Lynn,

I will try to make the Johnny Bush show on Sunday in Eustis, as Johnny is, of course, one of my all time heroes. I am staying over a few days with Little Herby since he lives in Sanford, so he and I will plan on being at Eustis on Sunday.
